Background
During my surgical training, continuing through to my consultant career, I have established a reputation for high quality academic and clinical research. This is evidenced by my prolific publishing record with over 100 publications in PubMed Indexed Peer-Reviewed journals, over 100 published abstracts and more than 250 international and national presentations. My current
Hirsch Index
is 28.
Written submission of theses culminated in the award of a Medical Doctorate in 2008 evaluating ischaemia-reperfusion in patients with peripheral arterial disease and a Master of Medical Science in Education for the Healthcare Professions in 2009 evaluating career choice in Northern Ireland Foundation Doctors.
I have previously been awarded more than 110,000GBP in research grants. Following my return to Northern Ireland and subsequent transition to the independent sector healthcare system, I am actively exploring innovative methodology for varicose vein treatment in collaboration with
Professor Gareth Davison
from the Sport and Exercise Sciences Research Institute at Ulster University, Northern Ireland and colleagues from Switzerland.
I continue to lecture at the Ulster University and remain a regular reviewer for many PubMed Indexed Medical Journals.
William J Mayo commented at a Weekly General Staff Meeting at the Mayo Clinic in 1935; "Reading papers is not for the purpose of showing how much we know and what we are doing, but is an opportunity to learn”.
In a similar ethos to my Alma Mater, the Mayo Clinic, please find enclosed below a list of all
my Peer-Reviewed Publications on PubMed
. Where possible a direct web link to the full research publication pdf has been included by clicking on the publication front page. Abstract review is available via PubMed by simply clicking Read More.
Please feel free to contact me via email to discuss any aspects of research or future collaboration at
